Muslim Council of Elders Strongly Condemns Terrorist Plot Targeting UAE Economy

20 March 2026

The Muslim Council of Elders condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist plot orchestrated by a network aimed at sabotaging and undermining the national economy of the United Arab Emirates. The Council expresses its solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty and preserve its security and stability.

The Muslim Council of Elders affirms its unequivocal rejection of all forms of extremism and terrorism, as well as of criminal practices that seek to destabilize the security and stability of Gulf states and Arab countries and to undermine societal peace. The Council commends the efficiency and professionalism of the UAE authorities in dismantling a terrorist cell funded and directed by the Hezbollah terrorist group and Iran, operating under the cover of a commercial entity, and seeking to infiltrate the national economy and implement schemes that threaten the country’s financial stability.

The Muslim Council of Elders reiterates that confronting terrorism and its financing, and countering attempts to exploit economic sectors for sabotage and subversive activities, is a shared responsibility that requires strengthened cooperation and collective action to protect nations, safeguard the resources of peoples, and entrench the values of security, peace, coexistence, and stability.
