Muslim Council of Elders' Pavilion at the New Delhi World Book Fair organizes a seminar titled: "The World as One Family: Religions Teaching Harmony" Participants in the seminar commend the efforts of the Council in nurturing and empowering youth to enhance mutual coexistence The Muslim Council of Elders' Pavilion at the New Delhi World Book Fair recently hosted a seminar titled: "The World as One Family: Religions Teaching Harmony." The seminar featured Justice Jaspal Singh, Former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Dr. Zikrur Rahman - Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies in New Delhi, and Professor Dr. P.R. Kumaraswamy, Professor of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University. During the seminar, Justice Jaspal Singh emphasized that all religions, by their teachings, do not advocate hostility towards others or initiating attacks under any circumstances. He highlighted that there are more serious and beneficial ways, with remarkable results lasting for years, if used appropriately and at the right time. He added that the Indian constitution is based on the principle of "We the People of India" without discrimination among any sects and religious denominations. He noted that courts play a crucial role in promoting harmony and safe coexistence among people of different races and religions. Judges and legal practitioners aim to continue applying the approach of peaceful coexistence and living with peace, security, and dignity. Dr. Kumaraswamy, the Director of the Institute of Middle East Studies in Delhi, pointed out that all religions connect us with a common factor despite our differences, which is our humanity. He commended the Muslim Council of Elders for its continuous efforts in presenting creative and value-laden projects that elevate human and societal well-being. In conclusion, Dr. Zikrur Rahman, the Director of the Indian Islamic Cultural Centre, praised the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders and its ongoing commitment to addressing various challenges faced by societies. He highlighted the Council's initiatives, diverse publications, and its role in fostering tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Dr. Zikrur Rahman also lauded the Council's support for youth by providing projects that aim to enhance their abilities for peaceful coexistence and help them build a future away from extremism and hatred towards others. This is the second consecutive participation by the Muslim Council of Elders at the New Delhi World Book Fair, one of the largest book fairs in the region which is particularly known for its large turnouts. The pavilion features over 220 publications in 5 languages, addressing various issues and aiming to correct misconceptions while rejecting extremist rhetoric and hatred. The Council's pavilion (H05) is located in Hall 4 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
