“The Contemporary Relevance of Sibawayh and the Arabic Language of Our Time”

In a cultural seminar titled “The Contemporary Relevance of Sibawayh and the Arabic Language of Our Time,” the Muslim Council of Elders’ pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair discussed Sibawayh’s place in the Arabic linguistic heritage, the impact of his contributions on understanding contemporary Arabic, and the role of linguistic studies in preserving the language’s authenticity and keeping it relevant to the demands of the modern age.
The seminar featured Professor Dr. Abdel Fattah Habib, Professor of Linguistics at Al-Azhar University, and was moderated by Dr. Rabie Al-Ghafir, Professor of Linguistics at Al-Azhar University. The speakers emphasized the scholarly value of Sibawayh’s book as a fundamental reference in Arabic linguistics and a well-established methodology for developing linguistic thought throughout the centuries.
This seminar is part of the Muslim Council of Elders’ participation in the Cairo International Book Fair, which aims to promote intellectual dialogue, revive scientific and linguistic heritage, and solidify cultural and intellectual values.
