Invitation to participate in the Muslim Council of Elders’ ‘Summer Course’ - Geneva, Switzerland

During the period from 10 to 19 August, 2020

The Muslim Council of Elders is an international organization based in Geneva, Switzerland with its general secretariat located in the Capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. The Council is opening registrations for its first-ever ‘Summer Course’, aimed at developing young leaders in the fields of mediation and dispute-settlement. The course is set to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from the 10th to the 19th of August 2020.

The course will focus on training participants in the fields of mediation and peacebuilding, in order to promote peaceful dispute-settlement. It also aims to influence the organizations which employee these participants by providing them with adequate training to achieve the related goals and objectives.

The training program has been tailor-made for participants who hold basic knowledge and expertise in the fields of mediation and dispute-settlements while offering more advanced skills and experience in the abovementioned fields. It also aims to explore means to establish and implement initiatives in the organizations to which the participants are affiliated to.

The Muslim Council of Elders’ summer course will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, with participants required to stay at the course’s allocated accommodation with a full commitment to attending the entirety of the training program. The Council will bear all costs related to the course for participants (visas, flights, transportation and living costs).

The course will be presented in English.

Who can participate?

  • Civil servants
  • Employees of in international organizations
  • Influential individuals in their respective communities/societies
  • Individuals with a background in conflict-resolution through dialogue, mediation or facilitation of dialogue

Eligibility criteria and requirements

  • Interest in mediation, dispute-settlement and peacebuilding.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold experience in fields such as: mediation, peacebuilding, conflict-resolution and interfaith dialogue.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.
  • Candidates must be Arab nationals.
  • Candidates must be younger than 35 years of age.
