The Grand Imam reaffirms eagerness to consolidate peace and coexistence

His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has asserted that Al-Azhar’s curriculum is based on the values of peace, coexistence and equality among all citizens, regardless of religion or background.

The Grand Imam added, during a meeting with the new Australian Ambassador to Egypt Glenn Miles, that Al-Azhar is eager to strengthen ties with the Australian government on all fronts and is also willing to train Australian Imams and religious preachers.

For his part, the Ambassador of Australia to Egypt expressed his appreciation towards the Grand Imam and Al-Azhar for their continued efforts in promoting moderate Islam. He also affirmed his country’s willingness to work closely with Al-Azhar to help spread the moderate values of Islam within the Muslim community in Australia.
