In a Seminar at the Pavilion of the Muslim Council of Elders at the Cairo International Book Fair - Translation is a Bridge for Communication Among People and Contributes to Updating Islamic Studies and Their Fields

The pavilion of the Muslim Council of Elders at the Cairo International Book Fair hosted its twelfth seminar titled "Translation Movement and Its Impact on Islamic Studies in the Previous Decade." The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Siraj, Professor and Head of the Islamic Studies Unit at the American University in Cairo, and was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Gamal, a member of the Heritage Revival Office at Al-Azhar.

Dr. Mohamed Siraj emphasized during the seminar that translation serves as a bridge for communication between people, Muslims, and the West. It also strengthens connections within the Islamic world among nations with different languages and significantly contributes to updating Islamic studies and their fields, fostering creative translations of Sharia studies from Arabic to other languages and vice versa.

He urged for large institutions with dedicated budgets to take on translation initiatives, not relying solely on individual efforts and that many significant Islamic books need translation into various languages. He highlighted the importance of having a translation plan, as there are rich scientific translations that can advance societies.

Siraj emphasized that translators should be aware of the scientific and social issues around them, seeking solutions. Translators should delve into the target language and make the translated text appealing. Translation is not just transferring text; it raises issues, and translators should contribute to human thought.

The Muslim Council of Elders' pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair features a diverse collection of publications, along with a series of seminars, activities, and events focused on promoting the values of peace and mutual coexistence among all humanity.

The pavilion is located alongside the Al-Azhar pavilion in Hall 4 at the Egypt International Exhibition and Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement in Cairo.
